Serve

I Corinthians 14:12 – “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,”
Hebrews 10:24 – “Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.”
The soldier spent very little time on the battlefield, but he spent hours every day with his master at arms. Those many hours of daily preparation, created within him an equipping that was unsurpassed on the battle-field.
God has called us, as Christians, to work the same way. One of the very first things noted about the early church, is that they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and prayers. there would come a time when they would be sent out from the presence of healthy fellowship. When they went, it was the daily practice of serving one another, compounded with the power of the Holy Spirit that equipped them for the spiritual battles that they would face.
I firmly believe that this call to “continue” with each other remains unchanged. As a corporate gathering of believers, we are likened to a body. Not everybody gets to be the appendix. In fact, everybody gets to play their part in serving one another. The Body of Christ should function fully… completely.. without hesitation. May we find our special and specific place in that body.
Here at Calvary Chapel Charlottesville (CCCville), we desire to create an atmosphere of “interactive investment”. We want to see the people in this fellowship caring for one another, and being cared for with integrity and quality.
Our ministries are broken down into categories and levels. We apply one of four levels to each ministry. They are defined as:
Level 1 - Anyone who has visited CCCville more than two times, and has decided to become a regular attendee, may serve in a level one ministry.
Level 2 – Anyone who has been a regular attendee at CCCville for six months or longer, is eligible to serve at this level. Some of these positions are in children’s ministry. We like to have the opportunity to “get to know” those who are taking care of our children. In addition, many of these positions require a completed “ministry application” and a background check. There are also positions at this level that require a deeper understanding of how things work at CCCville. In addition, only those who have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are eligible.
Level 3 - Individuals who have been attending CCCville for six months or longer are eligible to serve at this level. These positions require a deeper example of commitment and spiritual maturity. Positions in Level 3 involve responsibilities of oversight and quite often the task of teaching the Scriptures. Most of these positions also require a completed “ministry application” and a background check. Those who serve at this level are expected to be in one scheduled service/study with CCCville on a weekly basis. In addition, only those who have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are eligible.
Level 4 - Those who have been attending and faithfully serving at CCCville for one year or longer are eligible to serve at this level. Those serving in these positions have been faithfully involved at CCCville and have proven their spiritual integrity. They must strive to live according to the qualifications outlined in I Timothy 3 for an overseer. Appointments to level 4 positions are at the discretion of the Senior Pastor and/or the Board of Directors.
